Cilantro is packed with nutrients and may help aid in digestion. I actually grow this in a little planter right outside my front door. I use it to flavor so many things… one of my favorites is brown rice with a squeeze of lemon or lime juice in the water while it’s cooking.
Pineapple is awesome for flavoring your water and adding to smoothies. It aids in digestion and also has anti-inflammatory properties.
Peppers are a great option to spice of some of your dishes. I use these a lot in the summer– making stuffed peppers with eggs and sweet potatoes or lean protein and brown rice.
4. Summer Squash
I’m actually growing this right now in my garden. I love squash! Sauté it, grill it, or puree it. I use this for my mac & cheese recipe or make kabobs on the grill. It’s so good!
Watermelon is mostly made up of water, so it will fill you up, and it’s low in calories. You can also use it as a “fruit salsa” and mix it with some other fruits and mint to spice up your chicken or each with fresh tortilla chips.
And so, so many others out there! What are your favorite summer foods?
